Exhibiting at The Eden Project in Cornwall

This summer Alan Dilly, Jenny Bone and I have textile work on show at The EdenProject as part of the Plantlife patchwork challenge, a European touring show.

Dilly will also be exhibiting some of his freehand embroidery work at RHS Rosemoor in October.

Both these venues are on our radar as possible showcases for the forthcoming

Artists outside the classroom exhibition (summer 2017).

A selection of work by the 8 contributing teacher / makers will be posted over the next year so keep looking at the blog.
(A new website for artists outside the classroom is already under development
- a new creative playground for teacher / makers. - details to follow soon)

* creative playgrounds - the term has been developed by illustrator duo Salli S.Swindell &
Nate Padavick, creators of www.theydrawandcook.com and www.theydrawandtravel.com
- online space for the global creative illustration community to participate, submit & share visual ideas.

Chapter 2 - 'this time it's textiles'

Artists Outside The Classroom No. 2
–‘This time it’s textiles’
Following on from the success of our first 9 person, multi disciplinary show in Mayfair (July 2014) ................it’s time to start planning the next Teachers as Makers project.
(Look at the blog – www.artistsoutsidetheclassroom.blogspot.com)

I am coordinating the diverse work a group of enthusiastic, talented 'educators who make'.
Our plan is to present a collaborative group show touring in 2017.

This gives us 24 months to explore & share ideas, work independently and with others in the group to develop a wide range of textile based art pieces. 2D, 3D, hangings, wearables......
I’m really keen for this project to be much more about support, cooperation, encouragement and sharing ideas, skills and know-how, initially between ourselves but as the project progresses, with others through the blog and ultimately with the public during the touring show.
I’m currently considering locations in London & Scotland (I hope we can find 2/3 more venues).
Do you know of cheap / free gallery spaces or other venues? Ideas welcome.
I want to keep the cost for each participant to a minimum.

PROPOSAL
to bring together a group of educators who are practicing makers – 7/8 members.

- to collaboratively develop a touring exhibition of new ART TEXTILES

to support & encourage each other to create a fresh collection of unique, independent and collaborative textile based work

- to make new work in response to a common exhibition title (initial idea).....................
within a walled garden.
to share the development of work through a closed facebook network and document selected progress globally through www.artistsoutsidetheclassroom.blogspot.com

- to each record ideas and experiments in a sketchbook (which will be included in the exhibition )

to create 7/8 finished exhibition pieces per maker

to contribute sketchbook(s) & 7/8 exhibition pieces ready for a 3 / 4 venue touring exhibition to take place throughout 2017.

Let me know what you think.
