Kate Guy
My work is directly inspired by my surroundings. I like to see beauty in the everyday and the ordinary and try to capture this with simple drawing and colour. I will be showing recent work in the form of a range of prints; painted monotypes of London, drawn in a semi abstract way, I try to evoke the feeling of London streets rather than recreate them faithfully.
I have also used this technique in my studies of markets; from London to the South of France; another place that is very significant in my work and life.
More recently I have been working with linocut and have concentrated on the market and food theme with a range of bold, graphic images often hand-painted. Some of these have been reworked into screen-printed textile designs.
