Print*Collage*Stitch
TAAG Arts centre, Teignmouth.
Sunday 10th February 2019
10.30 - 4pm £40
A one day textile workshop exploring a range of print, collage & stitch techniques.
You will investigate ways to apply a unique combination of colours, textures and pattern to cloth.
Use heat transfer dyes and printmaking inks to achieve different effects on man made & natural fabrics.
Then combine your monoprint fabrics using collage, stitch & overprinting to create layered, multi media art work.
This is an opportunity to play with unusual colour and material combinations.
Print directly from natural and man made objects creating unique or repeat effects.
Cut & collage your prints then bring each composition together through the addition of hand & free machine stitching.
In this one day workshop the emphasis will be on creating lots of printed fabrics.
We will use most of the studio time to print a wide range of textile pieces for you to take away to embellish through further collage & stitch at home.
I will demonstrate approaches to stitch development using additional media, hand & free machine embroidery. You are very welcome to bring your own threads, sewing machine and sketchbooks to the workshop if you would like some direction using these.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of maker, from experienced textile artist to those looking for a new creating medium.
We will be using a heat printing press but all the techniques explored can be achieved using domestic equipment and hand printing.
WHAT TO BRING - if you have them available.
A range of pale fabric samples.
Dried flowers & leaves, feathers, lace scraps, interesting flat textures.
Printable objects (anything we can roll ink on to - remember we are working on fabric - pineapple skin makes a great texture/pattern)
I am limiting this workshop to 8 participants to allow plenty of space and easy access to the press.
Places must be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.
