This is an exciting new venture I am currently developing. 
First sale made and several orders already taken!

I have created and sold my art & design work off and on throughout my career, initially as a freelance textile designer specialising in 'period fabrics' for the costume industry.
As a teacher I have continued to explore print & textiles to support my students and as vehicles for personal work. I have exhibited in a number of group exhibitions over the years.
In October 2013 I had my first solo show in Cyprus - great experience, show looked great, feedback very positive but a collapsed economy is not a good place to sell art work!!!!

Keen to find a way to develop my portfolio, market my print work to a wider audience and apply my artwork on to a range of more affordable products - PuddleDay Press was born.

I have taught Ceramics and Art at Claremont High School for the last 34 years.
In leaving Claremont in July 2013 I have been very fortunate in making links with local schools in Romford teaching Art and Ceramics part time. 
For the last two years I have also been a member of the Fairekytes Arts Centre in Hornchurch teaching Ceramics to adults. 
Teaching part time has given me the opportunity to use the studio space make my own work. 
My inspiration is ecletic and ranges from Art & Nature to Ancient Civilizations. 
I am also inspired and very passionate about the Raku Process, it's chance and unpredictable elements.

Meet the artists - Bianca Davis

Bianca Davis

Following completion of my international BA in Fine Art from Leeds University I went into teaching. 
I am now a teacher of Art and Design and Head of PSHEE at Claremont High School Academy.

My degree covered a substantial amount of Art History which has continued to inform my work. 
My interests in Aesthetics and Canonical Art have led me to question many of the depictions of female beauty we have become accustomed to seeing. I am constantly questioning the social expectations of female beauty and sexuality against the realities of objectification and abuse. Recently, I have become interested in the sensual intimacy of the female form in juxtaposition to this. 
Further, the year I spent studying at Pennsylvania University introduced me to a different quality of light which continues to feed my fascination with crisp lines, and the balance of positive and negative space.

Teaching has reintroduced me to techniques and media that I have used extremely infrequently previously. I am currently working on a screen print which engages with the notions of the female form as a sexual object. The composition is a response to the traditional reclining nude, in particular the iconic images; Velázquez’s Venus at her Mirror and Manet’s Olympia. This work is a comment of the unwanted objectification of a sexual gaze; the face turns away whilst the body remains exposed. 
I spent some time trying to get the tone of black correct, in the end mixing a bluish tone of soft black, to create a sense of cold resignation.

Meet the artists - Angelo Zacharia

Angelo Zacharia

Having trained as a ceramicist at the internationally renowned Cardiff School of Art 
Zac found his way in to teaching Art & Design. 
Throughout his 35 education career he has continued to develop his work as a potter, creating hand formed and thrown vessels.
Now that he has given up full time teaching Zac now has a bit more time to develop his own work, both at home and in the shared community arts studio in East London where he makes and teaches ceramics to eager adult learners.

We are looking forward to seeing the new range of work he is developing for the exhibition in July.

Meet the artists - Helen Boden

Helen Boden

Helen Boden studied Fine Art at Coventry and a master of Printmaking at Chelsea School of Art. 

After two print residencies and an apprenticeship for the printmaker Brenda Hartill, in 2008 Helen set up Bodenpress which is a traditional printmaking studio set in an old engineering building in Chesham, Bucks.

There are two presses and excellent facilities for etching, linocut and collagraphs. 

A vacuum UV lightbox and guillotine is available for photopolymer gravure or solar plate. Screenprinting with paper stencils and drawing fluid is available.

Courses in colour printing, relief and intaglio techniques are regularly scheduled. 

Once proficient, print sessions are offered, allowing collaboration with other printmakers working in various techniques. 

Bodenpress specialises in small numbers and an inspiring, friendly environment. 

The studio is open to the public two weeks of June, as part of the Bucks Open Studios.

Helens own work considers the space and shapes created by reflections and shadows, whether organic or figurative. Running Bodenpress  studio gives her the fortunate advantage to use many techniques such as solar plate, collagraph and screen print.

The solar prints deal with admired architecture overlain with a personal vision. Some solar prints show sunshine beaming through apertures and creating shapes and shadows that are almost decorative These abstract shapes become an inspiration. Colour plays a large part, capturing the memories of places once visited.

The screen prints are dominated by colour and they are developed very much like painting, printing one colour before working out the next one. The overlapping of the colours are important so that a new palette emerge

She is currently creating London based work using reflections that others might not be aware of.

Lyn Bradshaw

I have spent the last 17 years assisting in the art department of a large secondary school in Milton Keynes.

I have no art specialism and no allegiance to any particular medium.

Instead I use a variety of materials and like to push the boundaries to see what will happen.

"What would happen if.......?" is the start of most pieces. 

'Experimental' would probably describe them.

Let's see what transpires!"
